Problem statement
NEP wants to strengthen the Indian educational community by encouraging retired education officers, school leaders to connect with Principals, HMs and teachers and help them guide and share their knowledge on various things. Design an experience that allows mentors and mentees to discover each other. Consider the needs of both mentors and mentees, including how someone may become a verified mentor and how to connect mentors to mentees.
Initial Thinking: How Might We Questions
How might we make the retired school officers and the teachers and principles go beyond group sessions and form a 1:1 mentoring comfortable and easy?
How might we help HM's and Teachers find the mentors easily on the platform based on their needs?
How might we bring the connection between mentor and mentee more reliable and trustworthy?
Research Findings / Pain Points
Based on our research of the user base and insights from the National Mentoring Mission research book, we identified several pain points:
Time Constraints: Teachers and HMs are very busy and prefer mentorship sessions that are short and quick.
Selective Mentoring: Mentors want to verify mentees before deciding to mentor them, rather than accepting everyone.
Familiar Interfaces: Users are accustomed to platforms like Google Meet and Zoom.
Communication Tools: Users commonly use WhatsApp to share information about webinars or group sessions.
Language and Localization: Both mentors and mentees need language options and localized content to be effective.
Design Solutions
User Testing Feedback
This is a well-thought-out design. I like how the mentor can get a request for mentorship with options to accept or reschedule it for another time. We would like to utilize this and launch it in our state - State Education Government, Andra Pradesh
We like the instant chat feature where any mentees can chat with mentors before scheduling a request for the session - Karmayogi Team
We can use this platform for teacher training purposes. We loved the interface - Karnataka State Education Department
